About

I am a young professional working in the financial industry in New York City.  My job is entry level, pays well but probably not well enough for urban living, and has plenty of room for movement and advancement within a large firm.  I live in a studio apartment in Brooklyn with my boyfriend, but I’d like to eventually own a house in Austin, Texas.  I am not in debt, but I am not as wealthy as I would like to be.  I do not spend money at bars, clubs, or designer fashion boutiques; I do spend money on photography, cooking, fine dining, movies, and my friends.

I started this blog because, though I have always been interested in personal finance, my interest was unfocused and largely involved ingesting massive amounts of information (books, periodicals, blogs) without digesting it in any organized or comprehensible way.  I hope to use this blog as a way to express and examine my thoughts on saving, spending, investing, and gaining financial independence.  I welcome all comments, compliments, criticism, and counsel.  Thanks for visiting!
